Christy Martens

Hello!

I am so excited to be part of the SJF family as the Art Specialist!  This is my 25th year of teaching. Before Fairbairn, I taught at Dr. Probe Elementary for 19 years. I've also been a Foods Teacher at WCHS and an Art Teacher at W.R. Myers in Taber. I graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual Arts and English. I received my Bachelor of Education Degree in 1996 with a major in Art and Language Arts minor.

I have been married to my husband Bruce for 30 years and we have two awesome boys, Brendan and Kyle, and daughter-in-law, Natalie. I am about to become a first-time Gramma!! When I'm not teaching, I love spending time with my family and friends. Travelling to visit art galleries and museums is my favourite thing, and I love to draw and paint. I also enjoy watching and going to baseball, lacrosse, and hockey games. I try to golf, and I READ, READ, READ. 

Senator Joyce Fairbairn is an amazing place to teach and learn. I am so proud to be a Falcon!
